2. Terms of Use
2.1 Purpose
Certus is a marketplace connecting clients who need sworn translations with sworn translators accredited in Belgium. Certus is not itself a translator and does not intervene in the quality of translations produced.
2.2 Registration and account
Access to the platform requires creating an account via Clerk. The user undertakes to provide accurate information and to maintain the confidentiality of their credentials. Certus reserves the right to suspend any account in the event of misuse.
2.3 Sworn translators
Translators registered on Certus must be sworn by a Belgian court and provide their oath certificate upon registration. Certus verifies this document before activating the account. Translators operate as self-employed professionals and are solely responsible for the quality of their services.
2.4 Orders and payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. Funds are held in escrow until the translation is validated by the client. Certus charges a variable commission per assignment. In the event of a dispute, Certus acts as mediator without guaranteeing automatic reimbursement.
2.5 Liability
Certus connects the parties but does not guarantee translator availability, delivery times, or acceptance of a translation by a third-party authority (embassy, notary, etc.). Certus's liability is limited to the amount of the commission received on the transaction concerned.
3. Privacy Policy
3.1 Data collected
Certus collects the following data: name, email address, role (client or translator), uploaded documents, payment information (managed exclusively by Stripe — Certus does not store any banking data).

3.4 Retention
Data is retained for the duration of the account's activity and 5 years after its closure, in accordance with Belgian legal obligations.
